Despite suffering a flat tire from contact on the start, Cameron McGlashan fought back to post a top-10 finish on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
McGlashan started off the night solidly with a fifth place finish in his heat, followed by an eighth place finish in the Dash for Cash.
Starting near the front of the feature didn’t go as planned for McGlashan as when Cory Young didn’t go, McGlashan made contact with a fellow competitor, resulting in a flat tire. He’d come in and get the tire changed, restarting at the tail end of the field.
Restarting at the back, McGlashan missed the second incident of the night on Lap 2 to move up a couple spots, set to make ground following the restart. He was able to do that, as he broke into the top-10 and was side-by-side with Bob Phinnemore for ninth at Lap 9. McGlashan took the spot a lap later, set to continue making up ground. Fortunately, a lack of cautions made it tough to catch his competitors but he was able to, passing Gerritt Tiemersma for eighth with two laps to go. He’d cross the finish line eighth.
