Stepping behind the wheel of a car he hadn’t driven previously, Cayden Lapcevich picked up the victory in the APC Mini Stock Younggun Showcase at the Autumn Colours Classic.
The race started off in a big way as Brandon McFerran pulled a perfect 360 off of turn two behind the wheel of Rich Schwartzenburg’s Mustang.
Meanwhile, Miles Tyson grabbed the early advantage behind the wheel of Fred Jordan’s mini stock ahead of Lapevich, who was driving Donovan Price’s car. Travis McLean moved into third on Lap 2 ahead of Gil Brooks, Brandt Graham (driving Tim Tolton’s) and Nick Clarke. McFerran now ran seventh ahead of Coltin Everingham, who was driving Terry Woodley’s Nissan.
The race was not boring throughout as Graham got alongside Brooks for fourth at Lap 5. Graham was unable to make the pass, with instead Clarke getting alongside him for fifth. Clarke completed the pass easily, getting alongside Brooks for fourth at Lap 11. He completed the pass a lap later, with Graham getting alongside Brooke for fifth. Clarke kept moving forward, getting alongside McLean for third at Lap 13.
At the front of the field, Lapcevich was able to track down Tyson, passing him for the top spot at Lap 14 just before the caution flew for debris. The first attempt at a restart brought forth the second caution as Brooks spun Graham. The second attempt saw Everingham tag Clarke on the restart, but Clarke was able to keep it straight and going.
Meanwhile, it was Lapcevich getting a good restart to hold the lead ahead of Tyson and McFerran as McLean spun off of turn two. Clarke moved into fourth ahead of Graham, Everingham, Scott Brooks and Gil Brooks.
Cayden Lapcevich led the rest of the way en route to scoring the victory ahead of Miles Tyson, Brandon McFerran, Nick Clarke, Brandt Graham, Coltin Everingham, Scott Brooks and Gil Brooks.
