Following a successful three-car campaign in 2016, JD Motorsports will again run three full-time cars in 2017.
Ross Chastain will return to the team in the No. 4 Chevrolet for the third straight year with Garrett Smithley returning in the No. 0 and Harrison Rhodes rejoining the team after racing for them in 2015.
“We feel like we have a great young group of drivers who will give us a three-way shot at doing well this season,” said team owner Johnny Davis. “We know what all of these guys can do, and all of them have run a lot of laps with us. So we won’t be starting over. It’s more like a continuation of where we’ve been headed.”
Chastain and Smithley will pick up right where they left off in 2016 with another full-time season, but Rhodes will attempt his first full NASCAR XFINITY Series schedule. He ran 26 races for JD Motorsports in 2015, and ran sporadically in 2016 for various teams.
“It’s good to be back with Johnny and his guys,” Rhodes said. “I feel like we built something pretty good here in 2015, and I’m anxious to get going again.”
