Christopher Bell got his first taste of the tricky road course of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park last September, but the full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver will get another crack at the track prior to the Truck Series’ return trip during the NASCAR Pinty’s Series season opener on Victoria Day weekend.
Bell will compete in the race driving the No. 22 Dodge for 22 Racing Team owned by four-time series champion Scott Steckly.
“We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to provide a car for a driver of the caliber of Christopher Bell,” Steckly said in a team release. “I have no doubt he will be battling for the win when the checkered flag falls on Lap 51 of the Can Am 200.”
Bell finished fifth in last year’s running of the Chevrolet Silverado 250 following a wild finish that led John Hunter Nemechek to victory lane.
Last year, Kaz Grala, who won at Daytona International Speedway to open the Truck Series season, drove for Steckly’s team in both CTMP races. He finished outside the top-10 in both races, but took advantage of the extra on-track time ahead of running the Truck race.
Bell will fly from Charlotte Motor Speedway where he will compete in the Truck race on Friday, May 19 before running the Pinty’s race on Sunday, May 21.
