Aric Almirola will return to his Mooresville, NC home this afternoon following an overnight stay at a Kansas-area hospital.
Almirola suffered a T5 Vertebra compression fracture after a crash in the Go Bowling 400 late in the race at Kansas Speedway on Saturday night. The fracture is in the middle of Almirola’s back.
Almirola is mobile, and will follow-up with doctors in Charlotte. It’s unknown at this time if he will have to miss any races.
Denny Hamlin, who suffered a similar compression fracture in his lower back in 2013, was forced to miss a total of four races. However, every back injury is different, so Hamlin’s injury may not be the perfect measure when talking about Almirola.
