Daniel Suarez made a great save and survived some tight racing action to take the win in the Monster Energy Open.
In the final ten lap stage of the Monster Energy Open, a race that includes all drivers not already in the All-Star race, Suarez and Chase Elliott made contact which sent Suarez up the racetrack as sawing on the wheel to save his No. 19 Toyota.
Erik Jones appeared to have the fastest car on the final stage, but damaged the left front of his racecar when he hit the infield grass attempting to go three wide for the lead with Elliott and Suarez.
In the final restart with three laps to go, Suarez got a good jump leaving Elliott to try to chase him down and hold off Austin Dillon. Dillon passed Elliott for second, but did not have enough time to catch Suarez.
Suarez joined Clint Bowyer, winner of Stage 1, Ryan Blaney, winner of Stage 2, transferring into the All-Star race main event. Chase Elliott won the fan vote which allowed him to take the fourth and final transfer spot.
