The recents events that have taken place in Texas due to Hurricane Harvey have been seen all over the news. The outpouring of help and support both nationally and internationally has been clear. NASCAR has joined in with the many of professional sports organizations wanting to help with the relief and recovery efforts in Texas.
They announced earlier this week that all cars and trucks running this weekend will have a special decal that states “Texas Strong.” NASCAR is also encouraging fans that want to make a donation to support those affected to do so through the NASCAR foundation.
There have also been a few drivers that are making an effort to support and bring awareness to the relief efforts. The list includes Joey Logano, Cody Ware and Elliott Sadler.
In a press release by Team Penske; Joey Logano and Shell announced that they are teaming up with the American Red Cross at Darlington and encouraging NASCAR fans to donate. The American Red Cross will have their logo on the No. 22. Logano also stated that he was donating $25,000 of his own money to the Red Cross.
Cody Ware, through a tweet, announced that he was running a Days of Thunder inspired scheme that has Pray for Texas on the hood and quarterpanels.
Also, in a pre-practice Media Availability on Friday morning, Elliot Sadler announced that he was going to donate a portion of his winnings this weekend to help support efforts from the storm.
