Johnny Sauter goes into championship weekend at Homestead Miami Speedway in the same position he was in last year. That position is a chance to win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship.
Sauter captured his first championship in NASCAR’s top-three series in 2016, thanks to his 12 top-fives and three wins.
So far in 2017, Sauter improved on those stats, with 12 top-five finishes and four wins, with two of those wins being the last two races at Texas Motor Speedway and Phoenix Raceway.
Sauter was fastest in first practice and 14th in final practice. Qualifying for tonight’s Ford EcoBoost 200 is at 3:30 p.m. and the green flag is scheduled for 8:18 p.m.
