The road to the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 is looking a little clearer for Danica Patrick as she announced today that GoDaddy, her long-time NASCAR and IndyCar sponsor, will back her for her two final professional racing starts.
“There’s this great story: I left IndyCar with GoDaddy on my car; I started NASCAR with GoDaddy on my car; I’m most recognized as the GoDaddy green car and driver, and so to finish up my career that way feels appropriate,” Patrick told the AP from Scottsdale, Arizona.
Patrick has yet to find a ride for her final two races, but admits she’s getting closer; acquiring the funding from GoDaddy also serves as a big help.
“We’re definitely pretty close on all that stuff, especially on the NASCAR side,” Patrick told ESPN. “We’ll be announcing that as soon as we can. I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t going to be a situation that would give me an opportunity to run up front and win the race.”
An announcement for a team owner could be expected any time. Rumors surrounding her IndyCar ride continue to fly, but Patrick has been linked to a third Ed Carpenter Racing car.
