The Nissan Micra Cup is back for the 2018 race season, and so is Olivier Bedard. The defending series champion picked up right where he left off by winning the pole for the opening race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Bedard’s Micra earned pole by posting a quick time of 1:43.679, just edging out senior division driver Normand Boyer for the top starting spot who will start second with a time of 1:43.704 seconds.
Quebec’s Kevin King will start third followed by Fadi Mourad and Valérie Limoges in the No. 220 Total Racing Team Micra.
Eddy Wong will start sixth with Austin Riley in seventh. Britain’s Jake Exton starts eights followed by Peter Dyck and Frédéric Bernier.
The lone American, Mike Ogren from Michigan, will start 12th in his series debut.
The Micra Cup, a full-spec racing series based entirely in Canada, will kick off the first race of the season during Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s Victoria Day Speedfest Weekend at 11:10 a.m. ET on Saturday.
