On Thursday, December 11th, Chip Ganassi and Harry Scott Jr. announced that they have joined forces to field a car in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2015. The car will be built in the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates shop in North Carolina, and will race under the team name HScott Motorsports with Chip Ganassi.
“The HScott Motorsports with Chip Ganassi partnership formalizes a relationship that has been in the making for a couple of years,” Scott Jr. commented. “This is a first step of a partnership that will further develop drivers and provide even more excitement in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.”
“We have had a great relationship with Harry over the past couple of years and bringing this program into our shop is something that we feel benefits both teams,” Ganassi added. “We feel that our expertise on both the competition and the business side can help grow the program both on and off the track.”
Fielding a No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro, Kyle Larson and Dylan Kwasniewski will be splitting the ride with Mike Shiplett handling crew chief duties.
Larson won a Nationwide Series race last season for Turner-Scott Motorsports, a team that was co-owned by Harry Scott Jr. and Steve Turner before problems between the owners caused a separation. Kwasniewski, meanwhile, posted three top-10s last season and has won both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West Championships.
