David Levine escaped his first visit to Talladega with a clean race car, an 11th place finish, and a jump up two positions in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driver points to second overall. He’ll celebrate his runner-up position in the rankings with young patients at Toledo Children’s Hospital on May 15, where he will visit while in town for the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care.
A survivor of open-heart surgery as an infant, David routinely visits hospitals as often as he can, to raise awareness about congenital heart defects, and to let race fans know how important living a healthy lifestyle is, at any age.
When he arrives at the track on Saturday, the ARCA Racing rookie driver will start the weekend just 100 points behind point leader Grant Enfinger, and only 5 points ahead of third place Josh Williams. He is also tied for the lead in the Scott Rookie Challenge standings.
With finishes of 6th and 9th at the most recent two short tracks on the schedule, David has good reason to expect to close the gap on the points leader, and increase his gap on third, when the checkered flag falls on Sunday.
David Levine on Toledo Speedway: “Through the first five ARCA races of the year, I have completed more laps than any other driver in the series – 762 of the 764 laps run, which is 12 more laps than my closest competitor. One of the goals I discuss with my crew chief, Sam Schram, every week is to ‘be there’ at the finish. That is what we plan to do at Toledo, and keep doing for the rest of the season! On another note, I am finally finished with college! I’m excited to focus 100% of my attention to racing – competing for the series rookie title and keeping myself in the overall championship battle as well!”
