ADVANCE NOTES
Reed at Kansas Speedway
Reed has one start in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Kansas Speedway. In 2014, Reed finished 12th after starting 14th.
He also has one start in the ARCA Racing Series at Kansas Speedway in 2012, recording a 10th-place finish.
Riding with Ryan
American Diabetes Association® Youth Ambassador Cooper Freund will ride along with Reed during Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Kansas. The Wichita, Kan. native will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side door on the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang. Freund was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2010 at just eight months old. At the time, he was thought to be the youngest child diagnosed with diabetes in the state of Kansas. Freund serves as an advocate for the American Diabetes Association through his involvement in radio commercials for the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure® cycling event, as Grand Master of the 2012 Step Out®: Walk to Stop Diabetes and through his desire to meet as many people as possible at these events and spread awareness about diabetes.
Double Duty
Reed returns behind the wheel of the Lira Motorsports No. 38 Ford Fusion in the ARCA Racing Series for the season finale this Friday night at Kansas. Reed will attempt to make it three-for-three in the win column after taking home the victory at Chicagoland Speedway and Kentucky Speedway earlier this season. He will return to his No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang for Roush Fenway Racing for 200 laps of NASCAR XFINITY Series action on Saturday.
Charlotte Recap
Reed finished 11th on Friday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway after starting in the same position. He fought a tight-handling race car for much of the race, but found his groove after the team made several adjustments throughout the course of the race. Reed crossed the finish line fighting for the 10th position with Roush Fenway Racing teammate Elliott Sadler.
2015 Season
Reed is currently 10th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings after one win and 16 top-15 finishes.
Reed on Charlotte
“I feel like Roush Fenway brings really great equipment to Kansas. We struggled last year, but our teammates found some decent speed there. Kansas has the same feel as Michigan and we had some good speed there this year before we broke the splitter. I think that will translate here and we have a shot to run really well there this year.”
Tune-in
The ARCA Racing Series Full Throttle S’loonshine 98.9 from Kansas Speedway will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 at 7:30 PM CDT on Friday, October 16.
Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Kansas Speedway on Saturday, October 17th at 3 p.m. CDT on NBC Sports Network and MRN.
