Zachary Levi, star of NBC’s Heroes Reborn, will complement the celebrity dignitaries at Homestead-Miami Speedway for Ford Championship Weekend (November 20-22), as it was announced today Levi will sing the National Anthem prior to the Ford EcoBoost 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship finale on Sunday, November 22.
Levi adds to the impressive lineup of dignitaries for the Ford EcoBoost 400, along with NBC News Anchor Hoda Kotb, who will serve as the Grand Marshal. In addition, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ford Motor Company, Mark Fields, will waive the green flag as the Honorary Starter for the Ford EcoBoost 400 and bring the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship field to green for 400.5 miles at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“Ford Championship Weekend has become the most significant weekend on the NASCAR schedule, as three champions are crowned in as many days right here at Homestead-Miami Speedway,” Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer said. “The magnitude of the event is reflected in the dignitaries that have been lined up this year, including several well-known entertainers such as Zachary Levi, Minions, Hoda Kotb and Carli Lloyd. We are excited that all of them will be joining us for what should be a thrilling weekend of racing.”
Though best known for his role on NBC’s Chuck, Levi is currently starring on the NBC hit showHeroes Reborn for which he is nominated for a People’s Choice Award. Levi also starred in the Marvel mega hit Thor: The Dark World as “Fandral the Dashing.” He was an instant fan favorite in the Disney animated film Tangled as “Flynn Ryder” opposite Mandy Moore’s “Rapunzel.” The film’s major ballad “I See the Light,” was nominated for Best Original Song, at the 83rd Academy Awards in 2011, where Levi and Moore sang the song live.
Homestead-Miami Speedway will host the season-ending races in the NASCAR’s three premier series – the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, XFINITY Series and Camping World Truck Series.
