Things are starting to turn around for Jordan Latimer as he’d score his first top-10 of the season on Saturday at Sunset Speedway.
After qualifying in the 17th position, Latimer knew he had his work cut out for him in the first of two features. He’d begin to make up ground slowly, running 16th at Lap 9, before moving up three spots to run 13th by Lap 15. He’d get alongside Travis Hallyburton for 12th at Lap 29, though was unable to complete the pass as he fell back in line two laps later. As a result, he’d complete the first feature in the 13th position.
The 14-car invert between features resulted in Latimer starting the second feature from the second position. He’d avoid the wrecks in the opening couple of laps to stay up front, running third with two laps on the board.
Over the next section of the race, Latimer slipped back some spots, running fifth at Lap 5, back to 10th by Lap 10. He’d avoid a spinning car on the restart to move up to eighth. However, he’d once again drop back to 10th by Lap 17.
Ultimately, Latimer was able to avoid a wreck with a couple laps to go to cross the finish line in the eighth spot.
