After a long break, the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Models are set to return to action this weekend at Flamboro Speedway for their third race of the year. With lots of experience throughout the field, there should be lots of great racing for the fans to see.
Everybody will have their eyes on Shane Maginnis this weekend as he made his return to outlaw super late model racing in a big way last month, scoring a dominating victory at Flamboro in June.
J.R. Fitzpatrick enters this weekend looking to return to victory lane after posting a runner-up finish at Flamboro last month. It’s well known the Cambridge, Ontario native can get around the Hamilton-based oval, though, as he dominated the season opener in May following a runner-up finish last season.
Derrick Tiemersma is looking for his first win in a couple seasons and could get back to victory lane, as he is a past winner at Flamboro Speedway. He picked up the victory in 2008 to go along with a seventh and sixth in 2007, a third in 2009 and a fourth in 2013. Unfortunately, the first two races this year haven’t gone as planned with the No. 7 team fighting mechanical issues.
Four-time series champion Glenn Watson would love to get a win, and knows what it takes to get around the Hamilton, Ontario oval. In nine previous OSCAAR starts at Flamboro, he has two wins and seven top-fives.
Gary Passer has lots of experience in the OSCAAR ranks and hopes to continue his solid start this year after finishing seventh in the season opener, followed by a fifth last month.
After spending some time away, Jim Bowman made his return behind the wheel of a super late model this year. He got off to a solid start, posting a seventh place finish last month.
Tyler Hawn had been successful so far this year, posting a fifth in May to go along with a ninth place finish last month.
Charlie Gallant knows what it takes to run well at Flamboro as he finished second to Jeff Hanley in 2013. He’s also done well in his last two Super Late starts, finishing second at Peterborough in October and third at Flamboro in May. Unfortunately, his last trip to Flamboro didn’t fare as well with a 10th place finish in June.
Roy Passer hopes to be at the front of the field as he’s proven to know his way around Flamboro. Notably, he was the runner-up in May and a third in June to go with an eighth in 2009 and ninth last season.
Todd Campbell surprised a lot of people last year, posting five straight top-10 finishes. So far this year, he’s off to a solid start as he finished 10th in the season opener, followed by a sixth last month.
Rob Reimer continues to get stronger with each Super Late Model start as he posted an eight place finish last month, followed by a 12th place finish in May.
Dustin Jackson impressed in his OSCAAR debut in May, posting a sixth place finish. Known for having success on the modified tour, he’ll be looking to crack the top-five this weekend.
Craig Stevenson is also looking for a solid run after finishing eighth in the season opener.
Along with the OSCAAR Super Late Models at Flamboro Speedway this Saturday will be the OSCAAR Modifieds, OSCAAR Midgets and OSCAAR Pro Midgets.
