Switching Gears from ARCA to NASCAR for Spencer Gallagher
(MOORESVILLE, NC – MARCH 14, 2012) The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East opens its 2012 season this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway which is infamously known as the “World’s Fastest Half Mile” in Bristol, TN. The past six seasons for the K&N East Series has started out the flat track of Greenville-Pickens Speedway, but this year teams will have to try and conquer the fast paced half mile oval right out of the gates in 2012.
Several teams, including Spencer Gallagher’s Allegiant race team, participated in a test session at the track a few weeks back as this is the first time in the 26-year history of the K&N Pro Series has competed on the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway. The series’ inaugural event – the Widow Wax 125 presented by SealWrap Repair Tape – at Bristol’s .533-mile high-banked concrete oval will feature lap times in the 15-second range. One of the larger entry lists of the season is expected for the inaugural Widow Wax 125, which will feature 36 cars in the starting grid. The field consisted of exactly 36 pre-entered cars as of March 9.
Spencer Gallagher and his #23 Clark-Diederich Racing Chevrolet shifts its focus from ARCA racing to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. After completing the first two events on the ARCA Racing Series schedule, Gallagher and his crew will attempt their first of a handful of select NASCAR K&N Pro Series races in 2012.
To say Spencer Gallagher and his Allegiant race team have a lot on their plate in 2012 would be an understatement. The plans for 2012 is to run a full ARCA season as well as select NASCAR K&N Pro Series races at venues in which NASCAR’s top three Series compete. With this weekend’s Widow Wax 125 being an inaugural event for the K&N Pro Series, Gallagher and his fellow competitors will have to quickly learn the tricky high banked concrete oval in Bristol, TN.
The Clark-Diederich team, along with approximately 30 other teams, took advantage of the open test session back in February to prepare for this weekend’s race. Being able to test prior to the event allowed the young Las Vegas native to get a feel for the race track prior to the practice sessions on Friday afternoon when the cars hit the track for two one-hour segments. Qualifying will take place on Saturday evening after the conclusion of the NASCAR Nationwide Series event and the green flag is set to drop around 6:15 p.m. EST.
