NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver of the No. 11 FedEx Toyota, Denny Hamlin, will accept the March of Dimes “Champion for Babies Award” at the March of Dimes Volunteer Leadership Conference and 75th Celebration in Washington D.C. on Thursday September 26th.
Hamlin is receiving this award for his efforts in raising awareness for the annual March for Babies fundraiser, March of Dimes largest fundraising event. Hamlin, in cooperation with FedEx, has featured a special March of Dimes paint scheme in each of the past six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series seasons to encourage fans to get involved.
The mission of the March for Babies fundraising event is to give hope to more than half a million babies that are born too soon each year. The money raised supports programs that help mothers have healthy, full-term pregnancies, and funds research to find solutions to problems that threaten the health of babies.
Hamlin and FedEx have hosted March of Dimes National Ambassador families at several NASCAR events encouraging them to share their stories and promote increased awareness.
Denny commented on Twitter, “Excited to be accepting the march for babies champion award this evening in Washington. Thanks to FedEx for making it possible.”
