Scott Dixon would lead 44 laps on the way to winning the Grand Prix of Houston – Race 1.
With championship rival Helio Castroneves finishing 18th due to mechanical problems, Dixon was able to close the gap from 49 points to eights points today.
Simona de Silvestro finished second for her best career IndyCar finish.
Justin Wilson finished third, followed by Simon Pagenaud and Josef Newgarden.
The IndyCars will race again tomorrow as this weekend’s race marks a double-header.
