36th David RaganJOEY LOGANO, No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford Fusion (Finished 4th) – “It was pretty crazy out there. Every restart you had to be so aggressive to pass people because that was your best shot to pass them and everyone realized it. There wasn’t much grip out there and everyone was doing that and you are going to have a crash. We proved that fact multiple times today. Everyone did a good job on the Shell Pennzoil Ford and gave me a really fast car and I feel like if you put it in the lead it was going to win the race but if you put it fourth it was going to finish fourth. It was hard to pass cars and I really feel like the 48 was probably the fastest car out there. Todd did a good job calling the race and trying to figure out the strategy. I couldn’t imaging trying to call a race like this. It is nuts because one minute you are first and the next you are 15th and you hope you cycle out to the lead at the end.”
CARL EDWARDS, No. 99 Fastenal Ford Fusion (Finished 5th) – “Well, I don’t know if we actually deserved to finish that well as much as I wanted to finish better than that. We struggled. I think Greg made it back up there pretty high so a decent day as far as finishes go. Holy moly that track is tough. In my opinion that Goodyear dual zone tire is awesome technology and it worked great in the test when it was about 25 degrees warmer but I didn’t see any rubber on the race track today. I think the conditions changed and we went into an unknown area and didn’t know the tire would act that way. It was treacherous, I mean death-defying every time you went into the corner on a run.”
WHAT WERE THE RESTARTS LIKE? “They were insane. Look up insane and that is the definition right there. Kyle and I ended up wrecking over there and I kept it going straight but just because you fan out and then the car goes into the corner and all of a sudden the grip level changes. I don’t know if he knew I was under him or not but he just turned down. His car bit or he turned and drove across the front of mine. It is just crazy. It is tough to be racing for points when you have those kind of restarts.”
GREG BIFFLE, No. 16 Sherwin Williams Ford Fusion (Finished 13th) – “We weren’t very good all weekend. I am really happy with a 13th place finish to be honest with you. We fought hard to get that. I drove hard and we had about a 30th place car and finished 13th with it so I am pretty happy with that.”
MARCOS AMBROSE, No. 9 MAC Tools Ford Fusion (Finished 9th) – “It felt like a win as far because I thought our day was done. We fought our way back and are a great team. We have been struggling here all weekend really and to come out with a top-10, we are pretty proud of it. It was a bizarre kind of race. The tire was super edgy and unpredictable and you didn’t know if it was the wind or the tire or the car that was making the difference. I am just pleased that we finished and I fought hard all day.”
ARIC ALMIROLA, No. 43 Farmland Ford Fusion (Finished 10th) – “We got a top-10 and I would have never told you that was possible yesterday in practice. I am proud of all the effort of everyone on this Farmland Fusion team. It is important to run well here in Kansas City because Farmland’s headquarters are right here. We salvaged a good finish and I am proud of my guys. We had a decent car at the beginning and we got off in the middle part of the race and lost our track position and never were as good after that.”
WHAT HAPPENED WITH YOU AND THE 15 AT THE END? “I beat him on that restart and I guess he was mad about it. That is fine, I am not worried about it. I beat him.”
BRAD KESELOWSKI, No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion (Finished 17th) – “We had a lot of gremlins here this weekend. We had a decent car and the 29 and 48 were probably the class of the field. One of them won, so I guess that is the way it should have worked. You know, it was a difficult up and down weekend unfortunately and we ended it on a negative note with something breaking in the back of the car with the fuel cell and we didn’t get the gas we needed to finish the race. Back to the drawing board I guess.”
DID IS SEEM LIKE A BIZARRE RACE TO YOU? “Oh yeah, we couldn’t get in a rhythm out there. There were so many wrecks and so many yellows that we could never really get going out there.”
