The 2013 season at Sunset Speedway didn’t go as smoothly as Jason Witty and team were hoping for.
Witty debuted a brand new chassis on the first night of racing – though it didn’t go as planned. On the first lap of the opening heat of the season, Witty was caught up in a wreck, bending the clip.
From then on, Witty and team went through their fair share of hurdles with other wrecks along the way, as well a pair of blown motors.
Despite the adversity, the team kept bringing the No. No. 19 Matco Tools/Queensville SOD Farms/Carrott Express/LaRue Haulage/Speedy Auto Machine Late Model back each week and running real strong – scoring five feature victories, and one of Sunset Speedway’s 75 lap invitationals.
As a result, Witty was awarded the Inside Track Comeback driver of the Year Award as part of the 2014 Canadian Motorsports Expo’s Short Track Night of Champions. Witty could not attend so car chief Connor Chadwick was on hand to pick up the award on the team’s behalf.
