GRUNDY, VA :: Fresh off a Late Model Stock Car championship at Lonesome Pine Raceway and a strong showing in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 last fall, Rockin’ Ryan Stiltner is ready to take on the ‘Concrete Jungle’ at Kingsport Speedway and Lonesome Pine Raceway again in hopes of winning two championships.
“I’m pretty optimistic about Kingsport this season,” Stiltner said about his season hopes. “We had a really good race last race before everything happened and we were good in testing so I feel pretty confident about it. We should be a lot better this year. As for Lonesome Pine I don’t know about the rule changes and how they’ll affect us. It might change some but I feel like I know the track better than most do and I should be as good if not better this year.”
Stiltner had a shot to score his first Kingsport Speedway win last October in an invitational race. He feels hours of testing and hard work in the offseason has paid off and feels he should be a contender this year.
“I think we can contend for both championships and possibly the NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Championship as well if it’s in reach,” Stiltner stated, referring to Lonesome Pine becoming a NASCAR sanctioned track during the offseason.
Stiltner thinks his first win at Kingsport Speedway could come on Saturday afternoon during the season opening race.
“I feel pretty good right now,” Stiltner remarked. “We were really fast when we tested.”
Stiltner scored seven wins at Lonesome Pine in 2013 where he won the track championship. He scored several top five finishes and a handful of top-three finishes at Kingsport. Along with running at Kingsport and Lonesome Pine, Stiltner may also run a few races at Motor Mile Speedway.
The season opener at Kingsport Speedway is set for Saturday, March 29th at 3pm. Interactive coverage of the race will be featured onRACE22.com. The season opener at Lonesome Pine Raceway is set for Saturday night, April 12th.
