Matt Tifft is another developmental driver earning his way through the ranks and this season he received his breakthrough opportunity: driving for Ken Schrader Racing.
“It’s pretty cool,” Tifft explained to On Pit Road at Richmond about racing for Ken Schrader this season. “It seems each race we are getting better and better, it’s all about building chemistry with the team and gaining as much knowledge as possible.”
Tifft, 18, currently competes in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and the K&N East Pro Series. However, he doesn’t believe the extra track time helps him gain an advantage in the other division.
“The ARCA cars have so much more horsepower then the K&N (machines).” Tifft expressed about extra track time. “And the ARCA cars have so much more control, it’s incredible, so it’s hard to compare the two.”
Unfortunately, Tifft wasn’t an inductee in this season’s NASCAR NEXT class, yet he’s not extremely surprised or upset.
“From how we ran last season, it’s not a surprise I am not in the NASCAR NEXT group.” Tifft noted about not be inducted to this season’s NASCAR NEXT program. “But, with the group of guys we have now we need to capitalize and hopefully we’ll be in the class next season.”
Tifft, the Hinckley, Ohio native, has captured six top-10 finishes between the ARCA and K&N East divisions and will be hoping to capture his first NASCAR National Series or ARCA victory this season, which could be occurring very soon.
