Andy Kamrath scores second feature victory of season at Sunset Speedway

Despite missing a couple weeks of racing at Sunset Speedway, Andy Kamrath didn’t look like he lost any speed at all as he would dominate in route to scoring his second victory of the season at Sunset Speedway. It marks the third victory overall this year for the driver of the No. 35 ImageWraps.ca, Jason Witty Re/Max Realty, AM Roofing, Blue Mountain Honda and CB Services of Bolton Civic. Kamrath won the Spring Derby 35 to kick off the year in May, followed by the Mini Stock Nationals earlier this month at Kawartha Speedway.

Points leader Brandon McFerran would finish second for his third straight top-three finish and sixth top-five in seven feature events this year.

Rookie Jordan Howse finished third for his third straight top-five feature finish, typing his best career finish as he finished third last week as well.

Ben Melenhorst finished fourth for his second straight top-four finish while rookie Gerrit Tiemersma rounded out the top five. Billy Swartzenburg finished sixth, followed by Samantha Shaw, Mike Gettliffe and Warren Paxton. Shoutout to 2012 Barrie Speedway Champion Gettliffe on his finish as he had to pit mid-race due to a flat tire.

Both Jerry Noble and Kendra Adams wouldn’t have the nights that they wanted as they’d each go for spins during the feature.  Connor James unfortunately had a spin as well, and caught Ken Townsend up with him.

Kamrath won the first heat ahead of Paxton and Tiemersma.

Eric Yorke won the second heat ahead of Melenhorst and Howse.

Swartzenburg won the third heat ahead of McFerran, James, Jake Watson and Lauren Halliday.

Shaw won the first b-main ahead of Townsend, Love, Tyler Johnston and Lisa DeLeeuw.

Gettliffe won the second b-main ahead of Steve Belanger and Billy Melenhorst.

Kamrath won the Dash for Cash ahead of McFerran, Yorke and Paxton.

Lastly, Candiss Everingham picked up her first career checkered flag as she won the non-qualifiers race.
