Continuing a familiar trend from this year, Team Penske would sweep the front row for the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway. Brad Keselowski got the advantage with the pole with a lap of 28.603 seconds, breaking the track record set last year by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
The driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford scored his sixth career pole and third of the 2014 season.
Teammate Joey Logano will start second for his 14th top-10 start of the year, ahead of Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick. Kentucky is the only track on the Sprint Cup Series tour that Gordon has yet to score a win at.
Rookie Kyle Larson qualified sixth, followed by Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray, Kurt Busch, Danica Patrick, Clint Bowyer and Paul Menard.
For the first time since 1996, less than 43 cars will start the race on Saturday night.
