Mooresville, NC (July 2, 2014) – The TriStar Motorsports Toyota Camrys are racing under the lights this weekend as the NASCAR Nationwide Series heads to Daytona International Speedway for the Subway Firecracker 250. TriStar Motorsports will field five entries for the 16th race of the 2014 season. Pre-Race Notes below:
Blake Koch, No. 10 Celsius Cola Camry
Florida native, Blake Koch is ready to take to the track in Daytona this weekend. With only five Nationwide Series starts at the fast tri-oval, Koch has an average starting position of 27.4 and an average finishing position of 24.8. Earlier this season, Koch qualified 11th and finished 22 nd. This weekend will be Koch’s 99th NASCAR Nationwide Series start.
Eric McClure, No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry
This weekend will mark Eric McClure’s 240th-career Nationwide Series start and his 17th at the 2.5-mile track. In 16 starts, the Virginia driver has led three laps and has completed 90.2% of the total laps attempted (1778). He has an average finish of 28.7 and has posted one top-10 finish. Earlier this season, McClure was unable to overcome a one-lap deficit after green-flag pit stops and with four laps remaining he was involved in an accident that relegated the team to a 35th-place finish.
Mike Bliss, No. 19 TriStar Motorsports Camry
Mike Bliss and the No. 19 TriStar Motorsports Camry are looking for redemption in Daytona this weekend. Coming off a 34th place finish last weekend in Kentucky, Bliss is coming to Daytona with 20 starts, one top 5, three top 10’s and one pole win. With an average starting position of 22.4 and an average 23.8, Bliss is looking to get his second top five finish at the superspeedway.
David Starr, No. 44 Chasco Constructors Camry
David Starr is back behind the wheel of the No. 44 Toyota Camry this weekend in the Sunshine State. With Chasco Constructors on the hood of his Camry, Starr is looking forward to his third superspeedway race of 2014. After leading laps at Talladega Superspeedway earlier this season, the native Texas driver is ready to tackle the 2.5-mile speedway under the lights.
Benny Gordon, No. 91 BWP Baseball Bats Camry
Benny Gordon, a Pennsylvania native, made his first NNS start at DIS in 2012. After starting the race from the 33rdposition, Gordon matched his career best finish of 12th. With 18 career starts under his belt, Gordon is more than ready to light up the banks of Daytona in his first race with TriStar Motorsports.
