Joey Logano would not have practice go his way as he would hit the wall during the practice session after a tire went down going into the corner.
“The same exact thing happened in this race last year,” Logano said. “I wasn’t even close to saving that. … It is a bummer. I felt like our car was pretty good. It wasn’t great but we were getting closer and I felt like we were a top-five car.
“Hopefully the other one is just as good.”
This isn’t the first time that Logano has experienced issues with the current tire compound that they started using at New Hampshire in 2012.
“It is something we have had issues with with this tire,” Logano said. “I had one go down at the Milwaukee test and I know they have had some issues when cars tested here of tires going down and it is the left rear all the time.”
Logano was able to practice his backup car before the end of the 90-minute practice session to be prepared for qualifying this afternoon.
