Despite the Sunset Speedway invasion that took place on Saturday night at Sauble Speedway, Jason Parker would keep up the winning ways as he scored the feature victory in the Late Model feature. The feature would be shortened by 13 laps as a result of rain.
Marvin Freiburger won the first heat ahead of Scott McTeer, Jason Witty, Nick Goetz, Jr Farrelly, Josh Stade, Dario Capirchio and Travis Hallyburton.
Mike Bentley won the second heat ahead of Billy Zardo, Taylor Holdaway, Thayne Hallyburton, Scott Sled, Brittney Gresel, Ernie Fumerton, Paul Maltese and Doug Wilson.
The third heat didn’t start off well as Shawn McGlynn would be black-flagged for leaking fluid. McGlynn would pull off and get the plan rectified before the field took the green, starting at the tail of the field. Chris Morrow picked up the win ahead of Dan Wright, Tom Gibbons, Sean Cronan, Dwayne Baker, McGlynn, Scott Beatty and Jeff Lotspeich.
With over 24 cars in attendance, the officials would take the top six from each heat straight to the main event, as well as the top-six from the b-main to make up the 24-car feature.
Dario Capirchio picked up the b-main win ahead of McGlynn, Maltese, Travis Hallyburton, Wilson and Beatty to qualify for the main event. Fumerton and Lotspeich would fail to qualify for the feature.
Come feature time, Taylor Holdaway would start pole ahead of Jason Witty, Jason Parker, Billy Zardo, Scott McTeer, Chris Morrow, Mike Bentley, Nick Goetz, Marvin Freiburger, Thayne Hallyburton, Dan Wright, Tom Gibbons, Jr Farrelly, Scott Sled, Sean Cronan, Josh Stade, Brittney Gresel, Dwayne Baker, Dario Capirchio, Paul Maltese, Travis Hallyburton, Shawn McGlynn, Jeff Lotspeich and Scott Beatty.
Witty would take the early lead ahead of Holdaway, Parker and McTeer while Bentley and Zardo battled for fifth. Bentley would get the spot as Parker got alongside Holdaway for second. Parker would clear Holdaway on lap four to begin to try and chase down Witty for the lead, bringing McTeer with him. Bentley would get alongside Holdaway for now fourth, grabbing the spot on lap five.
Morrow held down sixth ahead of Freiburger and Goetz as Zardo and Gibbons battled for seventh. Gibbons grabbed the spot on lap seven, bringing Stade through with him. Zardo would slip back to ninth ahead of Wright, Farrelly and Thayne Hallyburton.
The first caution would fly on lap 11 when Maltese went for a spin. With 39 laps to go, Witty led Parker, McTeer, Bentley, Holdaway, Freiburger, Morrow, Goetz, Gibbons, Stade, Zardo, Wright, Farrelly, Thayne Hallyburton, Gresel and Cronan. Notably, Baker would pull off before the restart and be done for the night.
Witty would get the lead on the restart ahead of Parker while McTeer and Bentley battled for third. McTeer would grab the spot on lap 11 ahead of Bentley, Freiburger, Holdaway and Morrow as Gibbons and Goetz battled for eighth. Gibbons would get the spot on lap 12 ahead of Goetz, while Stade, Farrelly and Zardo rounded out the top 12. Goetz would get back beside Gibbons at lap 18, though was unable to complete the pass.
While things were mainly calm in the top 10, it was total chaos near the back of the field and contact from Travis Hallyburton would send Maltese down off the track in turn three, through the grass at lap 20. Maltese would keep it going, getting back in line, set to keep contending.
The top eight would run single-file while Goetz got alongside Gibbons once again at lap 21. Goetz would be able to complete the pass, bringing Stade and Farrelly through with him.
At the front of the field, the leaders would get stuck in heavy lap traffic and having the experience he does at Sauble, Parker pounced at the opportunity and would make the pass for the lead at lap 35. Witty would hold serve in second, not letting Parker get too far ahead till lap 37 when the motor would go off of turn four to bring out the caution.
As the field followed the pacecar, the spits of rain picked up into drops and with knowing there was a good size clean-up of oil ahead of them, officials made the decision to call the race. Jason Parker gets the win as the leader while Scott McTeer moves up in the order to get second. Mike Bentley crossed the checkered/caution in the third spot, though was DQ’d post race. As a result, Marvin Freiburger gets third ahead of Taylor Holdaway, Chris Morrow, Nick Goetz, Josh Stade, Jr Farrelly, Tom Gibbons, Billy Zardo, Sean Cronan and Brittney Gresel.
