At the end of qualifying for today’s Nationwide Series event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Sam Hornish Jr. would score the Coors Light Pole Award for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 with a lap of 84.787 seconds, 95.873 mph. It marks Hornish’s seventh career pole and his second of the season as he tries to score his second victory of the 2014 season driving a partial schedule for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Alex Tagliani would qualify second for Team Penske for his second top-10 start of the 2014 season. Tagliani scored a second place finish earlier this year at Road America after going from 22nd to 2nd on the final green-white-checkered. Brian Scott continued his positive trend of running well, qualifying third for his 19th top-10 start of the 2014 season. Ty Dillon was the highest qualifying rookie in fourth, with Chris Buescher rounding out the top five.
Justin Marks would qualify sixth, followed by Brendan Gaughan, Regan Smith, Chase Elliott and Kenny Habul.
The Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. EST and can be seen live on ESPN2.
