MINNEAPOLIS (Sept. 8, 2014) – Controlling a 3,300-pound stock car at speeds close to 200 mph requires drivers to be at the top of their fitness game. Landon Cassill, driver of the No. 40 Chevrolet SS in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has teamed up with Snap Fitness to show fans how to start their internal engines and get fit like a NASCAR driver.
A three-minute video highlights the strength-training program created to keep Cassill in driving shape. Cassill and a Charlotte, North Carolina Snap Fitness club owner lead viewers in a step-by-step tutorial of several exercises while educating fans on the importance each move has behind the wheel.
Did you know? NASCAR drivers…
– Can lose 5-10 pounds in sweat each race
– Experience 3 Gs of force against their bodies going through turns
– Maintain the same heart rate of a serious marathon runner, 120-150 beats per minute for three-plus hours
“Physical fitness and stamina play important roles in my success on and off the track,” Cassill notes. “This workout has helped me race 600 miles and complete an Ironman 70.3 earlier this year. Even when I’m on the road, I can stay fit with these simple moves.”
Exercises outlined in the video for the lower body, upper body and core include standing lunges, pull-ups, hip cable pulls, push-ups, tricep dips and medicine ball pass.
As the first fitness company to be a primary sponsor in the sport, Snap Fitness is encouraging all NASCAR fans and media to join #SnapNation to lead an active and healthy lifestyle by offering a limited time 40-day trial pass for only $8.95 with the chance to win 40 great prizes during “40 Days of Landon.”
