As the Chase for the Sprint Cup Series gets set to begin this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, the staff at OnPitRoad.com thought it’d be a great idea to try and predict the perfect Chase for the Sprint Cup Series bracket. Both Managing Editor Ashley McCubbin (myself) and journalist Tayler Stiles went ahead and filled out a complete bracket. The odds for being perfect in figuring out the Chase bracket – 6.25%. Not bad odds as those are way better than basketball or hockey playoffs, but still not too high.
So without further-a-do, here is the perfect bracket that I have constructed. Click the photo to make it readable.
My Final Four Theory: Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have been the strongest drivers thus far this season as that is why they were leading the Sprint Cup Series Standings before the reset with a considerable gap over the rest of the field. As Gordon noted during his Chase appearance in Toronto on Wednesday – without the Chase, it would’ve been a two-man race between the pair of them. Then, Kevin Harvick has had the purest speed of any driver this year, but bad luck and pit crew trouble has seen him winning less than perhaps he should’ve. No fear, though, as we have a new pit crew for Harvick this weekend. Lastly, Johnson – you can never count out six-time as he always finds a way to be in the championship discussion, no matter what is going on. Despite the not so good stats that we’ve seen over the past couple of months, you’ll see that 48 team do what they always do in the Chase and step it up.
Champion: Jeff Gordon. He has flat out been the most consistent, solid driver all year. He has won three races this year. The confidence radiating off of Gordon about his team and chances is at an all-time high. The four-time Champ has everything in his corner so this should be the year that the pieces come together for his fifth.
Now as mentioned, Tayler also filled out a bracket so you can check that out here. Click the photo to make the bracket readable.
As you notice, both of us have chosen Jeff Gordon for the champion based on what we’ve seen this year.
She also put Gordon, Earnhardt and Johnson in her final four – but traded Harvick for Keselowski. In honesty, I can’t argue with my fellow journalist because the Penske Racing driver comes into the Chase in the top spot with four wins, has been strong as heck every week with top-fives and top-10 finishes and knows how to win a championship. It wouldn’t surprise if Ms. Stiles is right.
Tayler and I then took the question to our fellow fantasy players – you know, the group that pick who will do well each week for our OnPitRoad.com Fantasy league. Some of them took the bait and sent us whom they felt would do be the final four, and eventual champion. So without further a do, here we go….

Freaky Fast has upped his odds, by adding 12 new hands and feet over the wall. with the the added additions is like an added 100 horsepower and K. H. can do the rest. Your 2014 Sprint Cup Cup Champion.
He also got out of the gates well with a good run at Chicagoland in finishing fifth. Solid prediction.
