Being the track champion certainly can give you the advantage sometimes as you know the track the best against all the competitors. This was the case for Ryan Kimball as he was the top qualifier for Sunday’s Autumn Colors Classic 75 at Peterborough Speedway after two days of qualifying.
2014 Barrie Speedway Rookie of the Year Rick Walt won the first heat ahead of Gord Shepherd, Mat Box, Thayne Hallyburton, Paul Maltese, Allan Inglis, Steve Foster, Alvin McNicol and Tyler Liscum.
Sunset Speedway resident Jason Witty won the second heat ahead of Nick Goetz, Joshua Stade, the 31x, Billy Zardo, Marvin Freiburger, Jason Parker and Shawn McGlynn.
The third heat would see Jack Horner go for a spin on the backstretch. Kimball picked up the victory ahead of Tom Walters, Travis Hallyburton, Frank Davey, Dwayne Baker, the 16 and Horner.
The fourth heat wouldn’t start off well as Westwood, Maltese and Foster would all go spinning on lap one. Barrie Speedway resident Al Inglis would pick up the victory ahead of Holdaway, Shepherd, Westwood, Walt, Maltese, Box, McNicol and Foster.
Thayne Hallyburton was set to lead the fifth heat to the green flag, but was unable to start the race due to mechanical issues. Sauble Speedway resident Jason Parker won ahead of Zardo, the 31x, Witty, Freiburger, Stade, Goetz and McGlynn.
Frank Davey would lose his hood on lap four to bring out the caution in the final heat. Tom Walters picked up the victory ahead of Kimball, Baker, Travis Hallyburton, Davey, the 16, Dave Bartlett and Horner.
