RACER revealed on Tuesday Nov 4th that Kyle Moyer will be leaving Andretti Autosport to head to Team Penske in 2015.
Moyer has served as Andretti’s director of racing operations and race strategist for Marco Andretti. He has been a member of AA since the 1990s.
“Kyle’s time with Andretti Autosport dates back to our Team Green days, with over 20 years of history. We are disappointed to see him depart the team, but will continue to consider Kyle a friend and wish him luck in his future endeavors,” Michael Andretti told RACER.
Andretti also told RACER that he will look towards team veterans George Klotz and Paul Harcus to fill Moyer’s void until a permanent replacement is identified.
“Kyle’s decision to branch out in his career has provided us an opportunity to evaluate our needs and restructure in a manner that best fits our ever growing and evolving team,” Andretti added. “In the interim, while we are actively considering candidates to fill the position, our team’s work continues in the hands of our very capable team managers and crew. We are looking forward to a competitive and successful 2015 and beyond.”
Moyer’s position at Penske is unknown yet, but this marks the second big hit against AA during the off-season as James Hinchcliffe left the team last month to drive for Schmidt-Peterson Motorsports in 2015.
