He may be eliminated from Chase contention, but he’s trying to make the most of the situation that he’s dealt with.
Brad Keselowski would lead practice for the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday with a lap of 30.167 seconds. Keselowski is hoping to cap off the year with a victory after finding himself out of contention for the championship.
Kevin Harvick, one of the four with a shot at the championship, was second quickest in practice. He was followed by teammate Danica Patrick, Matt Kenseth and Kyle Larson.
Kurt Busch was sixth, followed by Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Championship contender Ryan Newman and Kyle Busch. The remaining two contenders – Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano – were 11th and 22nd, respectively.
The Sprint Cup Series cars will qualify on Friday evening, before having two more practices on Saturday before Sunday’s Ford EcoBoost 400.
