Earlier this week, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park announced their “major event” schedule for the 2015 season, which is highlighted by the 3rd annual NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chevrolet Silverado 250 on Labor Day weekend, and TUDOR United SportsCar Championship on July 12th.
Another headline of their schedule – a pair of trips for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCAT).
The NCATs will make their first trip on May 17th as part of the “Castrol presents Victoria Day SpeedFest Weekend”. They’ll be joined by the Pirelli World Challenge (GT/GT-A/GT Cup, GTS, TC/TCA/TCB), Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin, Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire and Canadian SuperCar Series. The past couple of years, this event has served as the season opener for the NCATs.
The second event is set for August 30th, as they will serve as the morning warm-up for the Chevrolet Silverado 250, as they have the past two years. The weekend will feature the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin and Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire.
“We look forward to welcoming back the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series as well as the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship,” Myles Brandt, President and General Manager at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, said. “With two highly successful truck races now in the books, and both featuring great racing and unbelievable finishes, we can’t wait to see what the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 250 will bring.
Last season at CTMP, J.R. Fitzpatrick won both NCAT events en route to finishing second in points to L.P. Dumoulin.
The full NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule hasn’t been released yet, as it is normally released by series officials in late January/early February. The schedule is set to closely follow this past season, however some things may be different, depending on what happens with a couple facilities.
