GMS Racing announced on Thursday, January 8th that they have named Joey Coulter their Team Relationships Coordinator for the 2015 season.
“I am excited to continue my relationship with GMS Racing,” the Florida native said. “Unfortunately, due to a lack of sponsorship I will not be in a truck this season. Taking on a new position with GMS allows me to continue my involvement in the racing community and also stay involved as a driver with my family’s dirt racing program. So I get the best of both worlds.”
Coulter drove for the organization in 2014, scoring three top-fives and 1o top-10s en route to finishing seventh in points. Unfortunately, he will not be back behind the wheel as a result of lack of sponsorship.
“My passion is still driving,” Coulter said, “but without sponsorship for the upcoming season I’ve had to find another way to be involved in the sport I love so much. Racing for a family run team early on has given me the tools to take on this position at GMS Racing while we continue to look for future partnerships that will put me back out on the track with GMS Racing.”
In 91 Camping World Truck Series career starts, Coulter has scored a win (Pocono in 2012), 19 top-fives and 43 top-10s with a season-best third place finish in points coming in 2012 for Richard Childress Racing.
While not racing in the Camping World Truck Series, Coulter will still be behind the wheel some, running several late model races this year on both dirt and asphalt.
“I am very excited to see what lies ahead for GMS Racing and hope to be celebrating in the winners circle with our drivers come February at Daytona. I encourage my fans to follow along on Twitter and Facebook to see where I will be racing next. I have some of the most loyal fans in the sport and I continue to look forward to seeing them at the track this year,” Coulter commented.
GMS Racing recently relocated to the former Richard Petty Motorsports shop, and is in the midst of finalizing their driver line-up for the 2015 race season. Spencer Gallagher is expected to return after a limited schedule last season.
