I was invited to attend a kids racing event on Saturday. Our long time sponsor, Mark Smith, from JDS Insurance asked me to attend and it was a very good day with many young boys in girls acting out a real race day. The children and their parents made beautiful cars out of blocks of wood.
The creations were wild with lots of thought put in the design and paint.
All cars were placed on a wooden track. Once the release was pulled they flew down the long straightaway where the winners were determined.
I brought much of my safety equipment and gear to show the kids. Helmet, gloves, Hans’s device and fire suit to explain the importance of being safe when racing cars. The youngsters were very attentive as they sit around me during the demonstration and my time of explanation about racing.
At my display table I had autograph cards and our Quaker State 40th Anniversary souvenir programs to give to the kids and their parents.
Both our cars are currently undergoing rebuild for the 2015 season. We are looking forward to our 47th consecutive season of stock car racing. I am very thankful for to all our sponsors who will support in 2015, including of course Quaker State who will be part of our team for an incredible 42nd season.
