Can anyone stop Kevin Harvick?
That may just be the question of the year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Harvick is currently on the hottest streak in recent memory, keeps his momentum going by scoring the pole for the CampingWorld.com 500 this Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway.
Harvick laid down a lap of 140.751 mph to score his 15th career pole, eight of which came last season when he switched teams, moving to Stewart-Haas Racing from Richard Childress Racing.
Phoenix is the perfect track for Harvick to keep his hot streak going. He has scored three of the last four races at the flat, one-mile oval.
Harvick, last week’s race winner, has finished in the top-two in the last six races (not to mention scoring the series championship) dating back to last season. With last week’s win, Harvick has all but locked himself into the Chase, a fact that takes the pressure off the team, and could lead to even more success – if that’s even possible.
Joey Logano continues to be fast in qualifying scoring a second place starting spot with a lap of 140.543 mph.
Logano was followed by Jamie McMurray, Matt Kenseth, and Ryan Newman to round out the -top-five.
The green flag will fall on the CampingWorld.com 5o0 at Sunday at 3:30pm ET.
