As part of the Short Track Night of Champions at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show, Robert Warnes was honored as the 2014 Ontario Modified Racing Series Champion. He admitted at the show that it wasn’t easy with having Nick Lees right on his tail.
“I had Nick Lees chasing me down, but yeah he scares me every time,” Warnes shared. “The week before the championship at Flamboro, we were at Autumn Colors, and I had nothing but technical issues there. I was so nervous going into the final – Nick gave me a run for my money. I’ll never forget that night.”
Now heading into the new year, the competition is only going to grow with the amount of rookies that have signed up for the season.
“I’m looking forward to 2015, and we’re going to have a bigger field of cars this year and a lot more fun,” he commented. “Looking at the rookies coming up, we got some competition heading into the year.
“Right now, with the trend of people buying the cars, they’re a lot more affordable. If you want a cost effective racecar, come to OMRS. We’re going to take care of you. We have a good tire package. You can’t complain about that because you’re putting money back in your pocket if you come out every week.”
