As part of the Short Track Night of Champions at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show, some of Grand Bend Speedway’s 2014 champions were honored for their accomplishments.
Hayden Sim would be honored for his Jr. Late Model Championship, and says that he is planning on returning to Grand Bend Speedway in the Jr. Late Model, as well as running some mini truck events. The 2014 Full Throttle Motor Speedway and Grand Bend Speedway Champion added that he will also get behind the wheel of a full-size late model, “mostly it’s just practicing and getting ready for the future”.
Michigan native Sean MacPhearson would be honored for the Legends Championship as he made the haul up to Grand Bend, Ontario each weekend for competition. MacPhearson praised the competition, saying that they had the likes of 2014 Ontario Legends Series Champion Nick Ledson and some of Michigan’s top drivers come out through the season.
“It was a great season and we kept our head on straight and won a few races,” MacPhearson shared.
Cole Pirie would take home the Mini Truck division championship, and praised the division for the small growth that was seen in comparing last season to 2013.
“There were a couple more truck last year,” he commented. “Last year, there were a pretty small number of trucks there so hopefully there’s more this year.”
Pirie will once again run a Mini Truck at Grand Bend, as well as some races at Full Throttle Motor Speedway, too.
