After ending last season on a positive note, Terry Woodley is hoping to kick off this year just as strong.
‘The Carpenter’ will return to Sunset International Speedway once again, running in the Graham Landscape Mini Stock division. The new season brings a change, though, as Sunset will enter their first season under NASCAR sanctioning. The change allows Woodley and his fellow drivers to compete in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series against drivers across North America.
Last season, Woodley didn’t start off the year as he would’ve hoped. However, the second half of the year was a whole different picture.
“The last half was really different than the first half,” he commented in October. “Finally got a decent motor, Melenhorst boys helped me out with some gears and I think everything kind of stands for itself after that. Started getting some good top-10s rather than running 18th, 19th and 20th. Had my best finish at Velocity – couldn’t ask for anything better. It was my best season ever.”
In the last five feature events of the season at Sunset Speedway, Woodley would post four top 10 finishes, a pair of heat victories, and a consolation race victory. As a result of his efforts all year, Woodley would finish a solid sixth spot in the final points standings.
He also impressed in the invitationals, finishing 12th in the Mini Stock Nationals at Kawartha Speedway and eighth in the Frequent Flyer 50 presented by Spencer Lewis Promotions at Sunset Speedway. He then won the b-main at the Garry Reynolds Memorial at Barrie Speedway, but was unable to run the main event due to rain. However, the biggest success of the season came in the final event of the year at Sunset Speedway, when Woodley finished fifth in the Velocity 250, an event which featured all the top Mini Stock drivers from across province.
NFC Motorsports would like to thank the sponsors for their continued support: Nottawasaga Mechanical, Collingwood Automotive Repair Services, Milltown Hose and Hydraulics, Complete welding and Midhurst Pharmacy.
