MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 5, 2015) – Coming off a nearly six-week hiatus in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule, Justin Boston is looking to pick up where he left off at Martinsville Speedway back in March. Boston earned his first career top-10 finish in the Truck Series, which helped him improve five positions to 13th in the driver point standings. He intends to keep that momentum going this weekend at Kansas Speedway, the second intermediate-track race of the 2015 season.
Kyle Busch Motorsports’ (KBM) drivers have collected one win, one pole, 492 laps led, three top-five and five top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 11.3 across nine starts at Kansas. Owner-driver Kyle Busch won the 2014 event from the pole after leading 104 laps for KBM’s only win at the 1.5-mile oval. This year Boston and his KBM teammates Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez will try to add to those totals.
Although Boston has never raced a truck at Kansas, he does have experience from two races there in the ARCA Racing Series. Boston earned one top-five (fifth, 2013) and two top-10 finishes (seventh, 2014) in his two starts at Kansas for an average finish of sixth. That experience will surely be valuable to the rookie contender as he prepares for 167 laps under the lights Friday night.
Boston will be driving a new No. 54 ZLOOP® Tundra at Kansas, KBM-030. KBM used the break in the schedule to build this new truck, not only for Boston to race at Kansas, but it is also currently scheduled to take to the track next weekend at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway as well.
Justin Boston, Driver of the No. 54 NCWTS ZLOOP Tundra:
Although not in a truck, how will having two prior ARCA starts at Kansas help you this weekend?
“I think any seat time at a track is going to help you, especially if you haven’t been there in that series before. I’ve raced at Kansas two times, so that will definitely help me get up to speed and concentrate on how our Tundra is handling instead of working on my line so much.”
How important was the top-10 finish at Martinsville for you?
“To come out of Martinsville with a top-10 finish was definitely important for me and big for us as a team. Our first two races we didn’t really get the ball rolling and I think we definitely gained a lot of momentum there, especially with how the day was playing out for us. I’m excited to see what we can do moving forward at Kansas.”
What have you done to stay busy during this long break in the schedule?
“I have been spending a lot of time with family and friends recently, as well as doing some home improvement projects. I’ve been doing a lot of landscaping work around my yard when it’s not raining.”
Shannon Rursch, Crew Chief of the No. 54 NCWTS ZLOOP Toyota Tundra:
With two intermediate-track races in a row how much of what you learn at Kansas will carry over to Charlotte the following week?
“The entire 54 team is looking forward to getting back to the race track. The time off for the Truck Series between Martinsville and Kansas has allowed KBM to build some new trucks and really work on our setups before we get into the heart of the schedule. Basically the only similarity between Kansas and Charlotte is that they are both 1.5-mile race tracks, so maybe some of the aero items will carry over between the two tracks, but aside from that the truck setups we run at each of the respective tracks will differ.”
Justin Boston’s No. 54 ZLOOP Tundra:
KBM-030: The No. 54 ZLOOP team will roll out KBM-030 for Friday’s Kansas 250at Kansas Speedway. This Tundra, which will be making its debut at Kansas, is a new addition to the KBM fleet.

The Rursch Report:
Shannon Rursch will call the shots for Justin Boston’s rookie campaign in the Truck Series in 2015. The Iowa native may be new to KBM, but is no stranger to sitting atop the pit box. Rursch comes to KBM from Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM), where he most recently served as crew chief for the No. 31 team in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In addition to leading the XFINITY Series team in 2014, he collected three top-10 finishes in four starts as crew chief for TSM in select Truck Series events last season.
Rursch has one top-10 finish as a crew chief in the Camping World Truck Series at Kansas, which came last spring when Ron Hornaday Jr., finished eighth.
