After running into problems last weekend at Flamboro Speedway, Jason Keen would bounce back in style to score the victory in the Canadian Vintage Modified feature at Sunset Speedway.
The night didn’t start off as Darryl Henwood would’ve wanted as he was forced down pit road during the opening heat. Ron Easton picked up the win ahead of Jeremy Riopelle, the 0, Ben Charbonneau, Darren Dryden and Rick Schurr.
Keen won the second heat ahead of Steve Trendell, T.J. Marshall, Brian Atkinson, Dustin Hood and the 08.
Come feature time, Keen would start pole ahead of Easton, Marshall, Trendell, Dryden, Atkinson, Riopelle and Charbonneau. Keen would jump out to the early lead, while Marshall jumped into second ahead of Trendell, Easton, Riopelle, the 0, Atkinson, Schurr, Hood, the 08, Dryden and Charbonneau.
Unfortunately for Dryden, his race was kept short as he’d run into mechanical problems, being forced to park his ride for the night. Meanwhile, Keen continued to lead Marshall, Trendell, 0 and Atkinson as Easton ran into problems. Charbonneau would make his move up through the field, moving into the fourth spot behind Keen, Marshall and Trendell. However, that positive run for Charbonneau came to an end with a spin.
Keen would get a good restart to keep the lead while Trendell was able to make hi way by Marshall to move into second. Riopelle moved into the fourth spot ahead of the 0, Atkinson, Schurr, Hood, the 08 and Charbonneau. Racing would pick up heavily for the fifth spot between the 0 and Atkinson, with contact being made. The contact resulted in Atkinson taking the spot, with Hood moving up into the sixth spot. The caution would fly shortly after for Schurr going around.
Jason Keen would get a good final restart to take home the checkered flag ahead of Steve Trendell, T.J. Marshall, Jeremy Riopelle, Brian Atkinson, the 0, the 08, Rick Schurr, Dustin Hood and Ben Charbonneau.
