ADVANCE NOTES
Reed at Bristol
Reed has competed at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) four times in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In April, he finished 21st in the Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 after starting 24th. In this event last year, Reed finished 14th after starting 19th.
Riding with Ryan
American Diabetes Association® Youth Ambassador Hallie Cook will ride along with Reed during Friday night’s race at BMS. The Kingsport, Tenn. native will have her name featured on a decal above the passenger-side door on the No. 16 Ford Mustang. Cook was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just over a year ago at the age of seven. Now eight, she remains active and loves to sing, dance, act, write, camp and attend church. She also enjoys baseball and attending Kingsport Mets games with her family. Like Reed, Cook is determined not to let diabetes get in her way. She has dreams of becoming an artist, musician or singer and looks up to Reed as an inspiration to chase her dreams.
Mid-Ohio Recap
Reed finished 22nd at Mid-Ohio on Saturday after getting caught up in an incident while battling for the ninth position with just over 10 laps to go in the race.
2015 Season
Reed is currently 10th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings after one win and 12 top-15 finishes.
Reed on Bristol
“After two weeks of road course racing, I’m excited to get back to oval racing this weekend. Bristol has presented some challenges for me and can be super intimidating, but I feel like I’m better prepared than I was in the spring. The speed at Bristol is unreal and everything happens so quickly it can be hard to give feedback to the team. Working with (crew chief) Chad (Norris) has been great and if we continue to communicate like we did in Mid-Ohio we will leave Bristol in good shape.”
Appearances
Reed will appear at the BMS XFINITY Zone presented by Comcast on Friday at 1:30 p.m. for a Q&A session.
Tune-in
Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from BMS on Friday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network and PRN.
