LARSON THUNDERS INTO THE LAST GREAT COLISEUM
Kyle Larson makes his eighth XFINITY Series start of 2015 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday. In four previous starts at the .533-mile high-banked short track, Larson has three top-five finishes, including two runner-up finishes in the Spring races in 2013 and 2014. He has an average starting position of 5.3, average finishing position of 8.8 and has led 70 laps at BMS. He won the pole for the Spring XFINITY Series race at BMS in 2014. This is Larson’s fifth XFINITY Series start in the ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro in 2015 (Daytona, Atlanta, Auto Club and Charlotte) and he has finished in the top 10 three times.

Road-course veteran Justin Marks made his second XFINITY Series start of 2015 and first with HScott Motorsports with Chip Ganassi (HSMCG). This was the first time that Belkin’s Linksys brand served as the primary sponsor of the HSMCG entry. After setting the quickest time in the final practice session on Friday afternoon, hopes were high for a strong run at the 2.4-mile road-course. Marks started 14th and in the opening laps of the race quickly moved into the top 10. Utilizing an off-sequence strategy, the team stayed out under an early caution to gain track position. The strategy proved to pay off early as Marks moved into the top five near halfway. In a race that saw three cautions in the final 22 laps, Marks was in position for a top-10 finish when he made contact with another competitor. This forced him to restart outside the top 20. Marks managed to move back up to 15th place, where he ultimately finished.

“In Bristol you need to turn the center and have good forward drive. With the track having progressive banking, drivers are able to run the top, bottom and middle grooves. Traffic will play a huge factor, so the driver who can navigate it the fastest will be successful. Kyle’s record in Bristol in the XFINITY Series is very impressive, so we feel like we have a chance to win.”
