“Just want to win races.”
– Dillon Houser
I caught up with Dillon this week to ask him about his career. I asked what were some of his goals he wanted to achieve and his reply was simple, “Just to win races”. He has raced at several tracks in his short career, Myrtle Beach Speedway, Greenville Pickens Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway, and Tri- County Motor Speedway. Some of his career highlights are a Pole Award the last race with the series, a top 3 finish in the highly inticipated Bobby Isaac Memorial race at the famed Hickory Motor Speedway driving in the Limited Late Model division, a 8th place finish in Late Models at Hickory, and he has led quite a few laps. He hopes to gain quite a few trophies for the team within the next few years and is on the right path to sucess in achieving them. He has also learned that patience is the key factor in the big races and save your tires.
I also asked him for any advice he could give to someone wanting to get involved in the sport, he replied “dont get in over your head starting out, pick a series or division thats affordable, find something that will make you comfortable in, then work your way up. I made the mistake my rookie year, jumped right into a late model and learned the hard way, I had to regroup, If I would have done it a lot differently, I would have probably progressed a lot quicker. But were finally up to par with everyone else now.”
Watch for Dillon Houser and the #11 Dwight Huffman Racing team to visit a track near you soon.
I hope he starts using the bumper like his uncle used to!!!!!!
