NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (August 26, 2015)– Highlighting a busy summer of racing for the Californian, Brian Wong and World Stage Racing are pleased to announce their entry in to the next phase of the program’s development, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Partnering with the renowned Venturini Motorsports, the program will debut at this weekend’s Chevrolet Silverado 250 at the famed Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Canada. Continuing the team’s ethos of exploring new avenues for marketing and engagement, the team’s Toyota Tundra will also debut a new partnership with Momofuku.
“Words cannot express my excitement for this weekend,” stated Wong. “This is by far the most high profile event in my stock car career, and to say I’m looking forward to it would be an understatement. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series offers some of the best racing in the world, and driving a vehicle like that at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, where you really have to be on your toes the whole time, should make for a very challenging weekend. Having Momofuku on board only makes it that much sweeter. Anyone who is familiar with their restaurants knows why it’s a huge honor to represent them this weekend. The quality of their dining experience, combined with their unique approach to customer engagement, lines up perfectly with our brand. Combined with our other partners at GT Channel, Purist and Nitty, we’re really hoping to show well for everyone.”
Continuing World Stage Racing’s tradition of engaging unique brands and non-traditional forms of partnership, the team’s alignment with Momofuku provides a perfect symbol of the effort. Established by chef and founder David Chang in 2004 with the opening of Momofuku Noodle Bar, Momofuku has grown to include restaurants in New York City, Sydney and Toronto. Momofuku has a total of nine restaurants (Noodle Bar, Ssäm Bar, Ko, Má Pêche, Seiōbo, Noodle Bar Toronto, Daishō, Shōtō, Fuku), a sister bakery with multiple locations throughout New York City and in Toronto (Milk Bar), two bars (Booker and Dax, Nikai), and a Culinary Lab.
Momofuku Toronto, Momofuku’s first project in Canada, is conveniently located just one hour from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Momofuku Toronto’s three-story glass cube is home to three restaurants (Noodle Bar, Daishō and Shōtō), a bar (Nikai) and Milk Bar. The menus at each restaurant change frequently based on market availability, and are inspired by the diversity of Ontario’s native ingredients as well as growing relationships with local vendors.
Momofuku is thrilled to partner with Wong, who is redefining what it means to become a NASCAR driver.
“I’m just excited for Momofuku to be a part of the race this weekend, and to have found a like-minded partner who also thinks outside the box.” says David Chang, Chef and Founder of Momofuku.
While this will be Wong’s first race in Truck Series competition, the 26-year old will have the benefit of vast road racing experience combined with excellent support from Venturini Motorsports in the No. 25 Momofuku Toyota Tundra. While the series normally runs 22 of their 23 events on oval tracks, the visit to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will be the lone visit to a road course for the year. Seen as a road course specialist, including being the first Chinese American to see a podium in the American Le Mans Series as well as first Chinese American to earn a podium in ARCA Series competition, Brian is hoping his experience in “turning right” will play to his favor.
In addition to Momofuku, the team will also be supported by Purist, Nitty.com, and GT Channel. GT Channel is YouTube’s largest multi-channel network with a focus on cars. The GTChannel home channel specializes in award winning drifting, tuning and sports car content with 300,000 subscribers and 3 Million monthly video views. GTChannel is a YouTube Certified company.
Nitty is a social bartering application built for communities that are passionate about their shared interests. Interested users can find it via both iOS and Android devices.
