For the second straight night in a row, Matt Bentley put in a dominating performance as he dominated Sunday evening’s St. Onge Recreation Super Stock 75-lap invitational feature.
Sunset feature winner Brendan Adams won the first heat ahead of Bentley, Sunset regular Jason Elliott, 2015 Sauble Speedway Champion Ken Grubb and Flamboro Speedway co-points leader Shawn Chenoweth. Randy Rusnell finished sixth, followed by Dan Archibald, Coltin Everingham and Donny Munce.
The second heat would see Johnny Morrison run into problems in turn two. Sunset regular Keith Temple picked up his first checkered flag of the season ahead of Sunset regular Lane Zardo, Sauble regular Joe Adams, Sunset regular Rob Morrison and Sauble regular Steve Ecker. Mike Weeda finished sixth, followed by Ethan Constable, Candiss Everingham and John Latimer.
Come feature time, Ken Grubb would start on pole behind the wheel of the No. 36 Bester Forest Products, TJM, Brian Freiburger, Bluewater Sanitations, Al Reich’s Backhoeing Haulage, Reg Bell Fuels, TJZ Spray Foam Insulation, Marvin Freiburger & Sons Incorporated Ford ahead of Joe Adams, Jason Elliott, Lane Zardo, Matt Bentley, Keith Temple, Brendan Adams, Rob Morrison, Shawn Chenoweth, Dan Archibald, Steve Ecker, Mike Weeda, Randy Rusnell, Ethan Constable, Coltin Everingham, Candiss Everingham, Donny Munce, John Latimer and Johnny Morrison.
Grubb would grab the early lead ahead of Joe Adams, Zardo, Elliott, Bentley and Brendan Adams. Bentley would then get alongside Elliott for fourth on lap three, completing the pass a lap later. Zardo would then get alongside Joe for second at lap five, completing the pass a lap later. Bentley would then grab the third spot on lap eighth ahead of Joe, Brendan, Elliott and Archibald.
Zardo and Bentley would both track down Grubb for the lead, taking him three-wide at lap 12. Bentley would then grab the lead behind the wheel of the No. 21 All Star Performance/Bentley Motorsports Super Stock at lap 14 ahead of Grubb, Zardo, Joe Adams, Brendan Adams and Archibald. Zardo would then get alongside Grubb for second at lap 16, completing the pass a lap later.
Bentley would continue to stretch his lead ahead of Zardo, Grubb, Brendan Adams, Archibald, Joe Adams, Elliott, Rusnell, Chenoweth, Temple, Weeda and Ecker as Rob Morrison battled Coltin Everingham for 13th. Elliott would then get alongside Joe for sixth at lap 24, completing the pass three laps later. Rusnell would then get alongside Joe for seventh.
With 28 laps on the board, Bentley looked to have the lead all to himself ahead of Zardo, Grubb, Archibald, Brendan Adams, Elliott, Rusnell, Joe Adams and Chenoweth. Rusnell would then get alongside Elliott for seventh, as Chenoweth got alongside Joe for ninth. Rusnell would get the seventh spot on lap 31 while Joe was able to keep the ninth spot ahead of Chenoweth.
Chenoweth would then run into problems two laps later, stalling on the front stretch for the first caution at lap 34. With caution laps counting for the first 50 laps of the event, the restart would come at lap 39. With 36 laps to go, Bentley led Zardo, Grubb, Archibald, Brendan Adams, Elliott, Joe Adams, Weeda, Temple, Ecker, Coltin Everingham, Latimer and Candiss Everingham.
Bentley would get a good restart to maintain the lead ahead of Zardo as Grubb and Archibald ran side-by-side for third. Grubb would be able to maintain the third spot, with Brendan Adams getting by Archibald for fourth. Archibald would now run fifth ahead of Rusnell, Joe Adams and Weeda as Ecker and Coltin Everingham battled for ninth. Ecker would get the spot on lap 43 ahead of Everingham, as the Morrisons battled behind for 11th.
Weeda would then get alongside Joe Adams for seventh, completing the pass two laps later on lap 47. Further up the field, Bentley continued to lead as Grubb got alongside Zardo for the second spot at lap 51. Brendan Adams continued to run third ahead of Archibald, Rusnell, Weeda, Joe Adams, Ecker, Coltin Everingham, Johnny Morrison and Rob Morrison.
Bentley would continue to lead at the front of the field, with Grubb and Zardo continuing to battle for second. Zardo would clear Grubb for the spot at lap 57, but Grubb was able to get back alongside a lap later. Behind them, Brendan Adams ran fourth ahead of Archibald and Rusnell. Archibald would then get alongside Adams for fourth at lap 60, completing the pass three laps later as Grubb got by Zardo for second. Archibald would then get alongside Zardo for third, completing the pass at lap 67.
Archibald would get alongside Grubb for second a lap later, but was unable to complete the pass as he fell back in line in third ahead of Zardo. Brendan Adams would then get alongside Zardo for fourth, completing the pass with five laps to go. Rusnell would then look to follow suit, getting alongside Zardo for fifth.
At the front of the field, Matt Bentley led the rest of the way to score the victory ahead of Ken Grubb, Dan Archibald, Brendan Adams, Randy Rusnell, Lane Zardo, Mike Weeda, Steve Ecker, Joe Adams, Coltin Everingham, Johnny Morrison, Rob Morrison, Candiss Everingham and John Latimer.
