After blowing the motor the last three straight races, Andy Kamrath bounced back on Saturday night, scoring the victory in the 35-lap Graham Landscape Mini Stock feature victory. Notably, the driver of the No. 35 Honda Civic scored the 35th victory this season for London Recreational Racing.
Meanwhile, Doug Butler put together another solid top-five performance, finishing fourth to claim his third Sunset Speedway Mini Stock Championship. It marks his fourth championship overall as he won the championship last season at Barrie Speedway.
The heats started off with Steve Belanger running into problems on lap four. Andy Kamrath went on to pick up the win ahead of Nic Montanari, Bob Phinnemore, Danny Benedict, Gerrit Tiemersma, Ben Melenhorst, Billy Melenhorst, Kendra Adams and Richard Butler.
Jordan Howse won the second heat ahead of Miles Tyson, Doug Butler, Warren Paxton, Eric Yorke, Terry Woodley, Brandon McFerran, Fred Jordan, Jake Watson and Justin Holmes.
Brandon McFerran won the b-main ahead of Billy Melenhorst, Jordan, Watson, Adams, Holmes, Belanger and Richard Butler.
Andy Kamrath went for the daily double with the victory in the Fast Qualifer’s Dash ahead of Howse, Benedict, Tyson, Paxton, Yorke, Montanari, Tiemersma, Woodley, Ben Melenhorst and Doug Butler.
Come feature time, Terry Woodley would start the No. 6 Zeggil Custom Homes.com, CARS Collingwood Automotive Repair Services, Lil Loads, PWL Electricial, Greenview Graphics, Nottawasaga Mechanical Nissan out front of Doug Butler, Andy Kamrath, Danny Benedict, Ben Melenhorst, Eric Yorke, Nic Montanari, Warren Paxton, Miles Tyson, Fred Jordan, Jake Watson, Gerrit Tiemersma, Brandon McFerran, Justin Holmes, Jordan Howse, Billy Melenhorst and Kendra Adams.
Butler would grab the early advantage behind the wheel of the No. 10 Cheryl Ferguson Century 21 Real Estate, RSA Barrie, The Linde Group, 400 Transmission, TSS Top Shop, Grace Doiron, RBC Mortgages, Highway 90 Signs, Northern Auto Body Nissan 240SX as Kamrath, Woodley and Benedict went three-wide for second. The caution would then fly, though, as Richard Butler and Phinnemore went around in turn four.
On the restart, Benedict would get into the back of Butler a little, sending Butler for a drift through turns three and four. Butler was able to hang on to the car, but Andy Kamrath would get by to put the No. 35 London Recreational, Jason Witty Re/Max, Seaton Structures, Super Clean, Castrol Edge, Blue Mountain Honda, Brandon’s Landscapes, Georgina Auto Glass, J.K. Kitching and Sons, AM Roofing, and Spencer Lewis Promotions Honda Civic into the lead on lap two.
Benedict would move up into second with Butler now third ahead of Yorke, Ben Melenhorst and Tyson as Paxton and Woodley battled side-by-side for seventh. Tyson would then get alongside Melenhorst for fifth at lap five, completing the pass a lap later. Paxton would then move into sixth on lap seven ahead of Howse as McFerran and Melenhorst battled side-by-side for eighth. McFerran would get the spot on lap nine, with Woodley getting alongside Melenhorst for ninth. Woodley would get the spot two laps later.
Further up the front, Paxton would get alongside Tyson for fifth, taking the spot on lap 13 as Yorke would get by Butler to move into third. The caution would then fly a lap later for debris on the track.
Kamrath would get a good restart to maintain the lead ahead of Benedict as Yorke and Butler battled for third. Yorke would get the spot on lap 18 ahead of Butler, as Paxton rounded out the top-five. Howse would run sixth as McFerran and Tyson battled for seventh. Tyson would get the spot on lap 20 ahead of McFerran and Woodley.
Howse would get alongside Paxton for fifth at lap 21, but the caution would fly a lap later as McFerran would go around in turn four with a flat right front. With 13 laps to go, Kamrath led Benedict, Yorke, Butler, Paxton, Howse, Tyson, Woodley, Tiemersma, Montanari and Jordan.
Kamrath would get a good restart to keep the lead ahead of Benedict as Yorke and Butler battled for third. Yorke would get the third spot with nine laps to go ahead of Butler, as Paxton and Howse battled for fifth ahead of Tyson, Tiemersma, Woodley and Montanari. Just outside of the top-10, Billy Melenhorst and Fred Jordan battled for the 11th, with Billy getting the spot with five laps to go, bringing McFerran through with him.
Andy Kamrath would lead the rest of the way to score the feature victory ahead of Danny Benedict and Eric Yorke. Doug Butler would finish fourth to win the championship with no finishes worse than sixth on the season. Jordan Howse would beat Warren Paxton to the line to get fifth, with Miles Tyson finishing seventh ahead of Gerrit Tiemersma, Terry Woodley, Nic Montanari, Billy Melenhorst, Brandon McFerran, Jake Watson, Fred Jordan, Ben Melenhorst, Kendra Adams, Bob Phinnemore and Justin Holmes.
