LARSON READY TO RACE IN THE WINDY CITY
Kyle Larson will make his 10th XFINITY Series start of 2015 at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday. In four previous XFINITY Series starts at the 1.5-mile speedway, Larson has two top-five finishes, including a runner-up finish in the fall race in 2014. He has an average finishing position of 12.2 and has led 27 laps at Chicagoland. Larson finished third in his only Sprint Cup Series start at Chicagoland in 2014.
HOME GAME
Team partner JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp. and their premium synthetic oil brand, ENEOS, have their U.S headquarters just one hour north of the Chicagoland Speedway, in Schaumburg, III. ENEOS is a full-time associate sponsor and will serve as a primary sponsor for three additional XFINITY Series races (Chicago 9/19, Dover 10/3 and Phoenix 11/14) in 2015.
RICHMOND RECAP
Brennan Poole was behind the wheel of the DC Solar Chevrolet Camaro for the 250-lap race at Richmond International Raceway last week. This was the young driver’s first XFINITY Series start since early August at Iowa Speedway. Poole started 16th and over the first 125 laps slowly and methodically worked his way to a race-high ninth place. Poole’s car proved to be better on the long green flag runs compared to the short green flag runs. The race’s final cycle of pit stops saw Poole restart 10th and he finished the race in 11th position. This marked Poole’s ninth top-15 finish in just 14 XFINITY Series starts in 2015.
LARSON ON CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY
“Chicagoland is a track that has multiple grooves, which is good for us as drivers. It’s one of my favorite tracks. Qualifying will be important because the race typically has long green-flag runs, so starting up front will be key. I am very excited to be back behind the wheel of an XFINITY Series car and especially in ENEOS’ backyard this weekend.”
CREW CHIEF MIKE SHIPLETT ON CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY
“Chicagoland Speedway is a very bumpy track. Drivers are able to run the top and bottom grooves which makes for good racing for the fans and competitors. The turns are slightly different so it’s important to have a good balance for the car. The backstretch is also curved so the driver really never gets a break from turning around the track. Kyle’s record at Chicagoland in the XFINITY Series is very impressive, so we feel like we have a chance to win.”
